Biography
With more than twenty years’ experience in geographical information systems (GIS), Olivia is a strong advocate of geospatial data and technology. She post-graduated from La Sorbonne University (Paris) with an MsC in Geography and Environmental Sciences in 2001. Her career started in the Environment Agency, but she later joined Avon and Somerset Police where she always strived to put GIS at the forefront of policing. She then became the International Lead at the Geospatial Commission, promoting the UK as a geospatial global leader. She is now the Head of Geography at the Office for National Statistics where she leads a team of specialists working towards better integration of geospatial data and statistics, as well as complex analysis , in aid of UK wide policy and decision making. She is keen on working towards a more gender balanced geospatial industry and on inspiring more women to join. As such, she is a director of Women+ in Geospatial, a global network for women and under-represented genders.
