Ayako Kagawa is a Chartered Geographer and cartographer delivering geospatial and cartographic solutions in complex international settings. She supports the United Nations in addressing global challenges, contributing to crisis response in conflict-related contexts in the field through surveying, GIS-based situational awareness, and Earth observation monitoring. She has contributed to intergovernmental processes by advancing global geospatial frameworks including UN-GGIM and UNGEGN, and SDG mapping. She also brings experience in training and lecturing mid-career professionals and international students from the Global South in GIS and remote sensing for urban planning and management, specialising in urban land tenure security and monitoring and evaluation indicators.
