Biography

Following a Master of Research in Ecology and Environmental Management I started a career within the Civil Service as a Scientist in 1999. This has allowed me to follow an interesting and varied career, although always focused on the interactions between place and environmental policy, and long-term environmental monitoring. I was a founding member of the Government Geography Profession, and a deputy head of the profession. In 2021 I moved to the RGS-IBG as the Professional and Policy Manager on secondment from Defra. The team works to support professionals throughout their career and advocating for the work of professional geographers. I am particularly interested in increasing the impact of geography within professional practice and supporting those who wish to follow a career in geography.
