Biography
Memo: Ashley is Professor of Geography Education and Head of Geography at the Institute of Education, University of London. Ashley has an MA from Cambridge, a PGCE and PHD from London. Ashley’s main interests are curriculum development and evaluation, teaching strategies including fieldwork, schools/HE interface, environmental hazards, distance learning developments in HE. Ashley’s current research projects include Herodot Project Pillar Leader of Exciting Geography Theme, European Commission funded; Director of the Image and Status of Geography Project, supported by the International Geographical Union Commission on Geographical Education (2001 onwards); UK Director of DUNES Project. European Commission funded (2002-2004) Focus on Collaborative learning through discussions and argumentative interactions on the web.
