Geographies of Health and Wellbeing Research Group conference session sponsorship

The Geographies of Health and Wellbeing Research Group (GHWRG) invites expressions of interest for sponsored sessions at the Society's 2026 Annual International Conference. The conference will take place in London and online from 1-4 September 2026.

The Chair’s theme for this year’s conference is Geographies of inequalities: towards just places.

The Geographies of Health and Wellbeing Research Group is particularly interested in sponsoring sessions that engage with the conference theme and address resilience from the perspective of health, wellbeing, and medical geographies.

We also welcome other sessions outside the theme, provided you can justify their relevance to pressing and topical issues related to health and wellbeing.

Process for submissions

The deadline for sponsored session proposal submissions to GHWRG is 20 February 2026. Please email submissions to our Conference Coordinators Zakiyya Adam and Maaret Jokela-Pansini at geoghwrg@gmail.com with the session title, an abstract (max. 400 words), name(s) and affiliation(s) of the session convenor(s), contact details, and the intended format of the session.

Session convenors will be notified by 27 February 2026 whether GHWRG will sponsor your session.

  • We can sponsor up to 12 timeslots in the programme. Please note that no session can occupy more than two slots in the programme.
  • A limited number of guest registration passes are available for session participants who are: (1) from outside the UK; (2) in disciplines outside geography; (3) outside of academia, or (4) with no access to research funds, and/or who are employed on a very short-term or part-time basis. Please indicate in your submission if you require a guest pass and specify the duration of attendance.

Important dates

Once sponsorship decisions are made, full session details (including all proposed papers and presenters) must be submitted by 6 March 2026 to the Society.

Deadline: 20 February 2026.
