The RGS-IBG Annual International Conference regularly attracts over 2,000 geographers from around the world. This year, the conference is taking place at Newcastle University, with in-person, online, and hybrid ways to participate.
Our annual conference is the largest annual academic geography conference in Europe, with over 2,000 delegates from 60 countries taking part in close to 400 academic sessions.
The Society hosts the conference in our building in London for two out of every three years (hiring additional space at Imperial College London), and then every third year we take the conference out of London. The past out-of-London conferences have been held at Cardiff University (2018), the University of Exeter (2015), the University of Edinburgh (2012), and the University of Manchester (2009).
We are delighted to be bringing the 2022 conference to Newcastle University.
Next year’s conference will be in London, Tuesday 29 to Friday 31 August 2023, at the RGS-IBG and chaired by Harriet Bulkeley, Durham University. More on the theme, key dates and timelines in October and November.
The Society's annual conference code of conduct applies to all delegates and participants.
The conference programme for AC2022 will be announced in May 2022.
