Teaching about forced migration

In 2025 there are over 120 million people who have been forced to flee their homes in the world. Most of them – nearly 60% of people who have been forced to leave their homes – still live in their own countries and most who leave are in neighbouring countries. Less than 0.3% of people who have been forced to flee in the world live in the UK.

Schools of Sanctuary is a programme that is run by City of Sanctuary UK. They partnered with Newcastle University to create resources for educators to teach about forced migration in a way that fosters empathy and compassion.
