Get into teaching
With record numbers of pupils studying geography GCSE, there is now an even greater need to recruit the next generation of geography teachers.
A £26,000 training bursary is available for those starting teacher training in geography in Autumn 2025. Bursaries are available to trainees on tuition fee-based teacher training courses in England that lead to the award of qualified teacher status (QTS).
All trainee teachers on tuition fee-funded ITT routes are also able to apply for a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan to support their living costs. Additional student finance is also available depending on individual circumstances, such as the Childcare Grant.
