Urbanisation and climate case study: Rainham
Introduction
There are many issues with the increased number of people living in urban areas and the impacts of climate change there. This resource looks at one such issue relating to the misuse of the land caused by illegal rubbish dumping in Rainham, East London.
With increased temperatures especially in the summer, the rubbish catches fire, releasing harmful pollutants and gases in the atmosphere affecting the health of local residents.
This interactive resource has been designed to be set as independent study or alongside classroom teaching and has a number of activities as well as examination style questions for students to work through throughout.
