Each year, the Society and its 30+ Research Groups award dissertation prizes, which recognise outstanding geographical research produced by undergraduate students.

These important dissertation prizes benefit students by opening up future opportunities and drawing out themes and skills they have developed in their own work. Crucially, this also helps them connect to careers within and beyond academia. They also support a pipeline of skilled geographers entering academia and other sectors.

Winners for the 2024/2025 academic year have now been announced with over 40 students recognised for producing excellent work exploring issues across geography’s sub-disciplines, often using innovative methodologies.

You can learn more about the topics explored by winning students on our OSF site.

We welcome submissions made by departments by the deadline of 22 July 2026 for 2025/2026.
