The Society wishes to appoint three new Editors to its journal Area.
Area publishes high-quality 5,000-word papers and commentaries from across the discipline of geography. We publish empirical research papers as well as ethics and methods-based papers. Area is committed to helping early-career and under-represented authors navigate the review process, making it the perfect outlet for emerging scholars and new debates. We offer a prize each year for the best paper in the journal written by an early-career researcher.
The new Editors will have a broad interest in the full range of research undertaken in geography and will demonstrate a strong interest in, and record of, working with early-career researchers. They will have a commitment to attracting the best scholarship for publication in Area while also seeking to diversify the journal’s authorship, a collegiate approach to editorial duties and enthusiasm for working as part of a team, the commitment to spending the time needed to make quick and effective decisions, and a sympathetic and diplomatic approach to authors and reviewers.
We are seeking to appoint two human and one physical geographer who are able to handle the breadth of current submissions to the journal (see recent papers here) and have a strong vision for the future of the journal. We particularly welcome applications from those under-represented in the discipline and in editorial roles.
Applications for the Editor roles should be submitted by Friday 22 November 2024.
