The Society has recently approved the accreditation or reaccreditation of 11 geography programmes at five higher education institutions across the UK.
Programme accreditation is a great way for university departments to demonstrate their good practice in teaching and learning. During the accreditation process, our Accreditation Review Panel assesses undergraduate programmes against the 2022 QAA Subject Benchmark Statement for Geography. The statement defines what can be expected of a graduate in terms of the knowledge, understanding, skills and approaches they have gained through their degree programme.
Programmes at the following institutions were recently accredited:
St Andrews
BSc Geography
MA Geography
Sheffield Hallam
BA Geography
BSc Geography
MSc Geographical Information Systems
UEA
BA Geography with Global Development
BA Geography with Global Development with Placement Year
BA Geography with Global Development with Year Abroad
Worcester
BA (Hons) Geography
BA (Hons) Geography with International Year Abroad

Through our accreditation scheme, we aim to support continuous quality improvement of geography degree programmes and promote good student outcomes across the sector.
