The 2026 Postgraduate Forum Mid-Term Conference took place this week at the Society and online, with over 55 presentations from postgraduate geographers across two days.

The varied community from across the UK and around the world, came together to network, build connections, and present their research in a friendly and welcoming environment, many of them, for the first time.

This year’s conference included a compelling keynote lecture by Dr Vickie Zhang on non-relational ethics, holding space for conflict and the difference within collective life, alongside workshops on publishing in geography and a building tour exploring critical histories of geography as well as the Society’s ongoing reinterpretation project.

There is no way that the enterprise of education and research is possible without the intergenerational generosity we receive from our mentors, teachers and peers. - Dr Vickie Zhang
At every stage - choosing Geography as a discipline, choosing if you want to go on to do a PHD - I have found people who welcomed me and made me feel like I belonged. The time, effort and energy people give has been endless and I hope that helps us pay onwards to students and the next generation. - Dr Vickie Zhang

Thanks to all our delegates, presenters and contributors for their hard work and enthusiasm. See you next year!
