Our vision for the future includes geographers being at the heart of developing a world that is environmentally sustainable. The Society is committed to supporting high quality education on climate change and sustainability. It welcomes selected opportunities for experts to come together in support of this aim at the ‘home of geography’.

Recently, the Society hosted the official launch of the new curriculum guides for primary Science, Geography, and Art by Climate Adapted Pathways for Education (CAPE).

CAPE is a UK-based charity focused on transforming education so that children and young people are better prepared for a rapidly changing climate. It brings together researchers, educators, and schools to embed climate literacy across the whole school system.

During the event, discussions explored the wider climate context, educational responsibility, curriculum coherence, and disciplinary integrity. Speakers also highlighted the need for high professional standards, strong subject expertise, and the challenges posed by current national standards when integrating climate change education.
