We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Springpod, which offers a new geography virtual work experience programme designed to help students discover the range of careers that geography can lead to.

Data shows that those who study geography enjoy strong employment prospects and competitive salaries with career paths across multiple sectors, yet many young people are not aware of the opportunities available to them.*

Our virtual work experience programme will allow them to explore future pathways, build skills, and connect learning to life beyond school.

We know that geographers and their skills are in demand in many roles across many sectors, and this is only going to grow further with digital and green skills jobs poised for significant growth.Dr Catherine Souch, Director of Research, Education and Professional

This virtual work experience programme offers students the chance to explore roles and sectors where geographical skills are used.

Through a series of modules – which include Hazards and risk in the real world; Shaping cities and communities; Sustainable resources; and Mapping the world with GIS – they’ll hear from professionals working in geography-related careers and see how their knowledge can be applied beyond the classroom to tackle real-world challenges and drive positive change.

These modules are completely free to access online, widening the reach to students who may not be able to undertake in-person work experience. The programme will help young people to make informed decisions about a future career in geography and related disciplines.

Know someone who’d be interested in this? We would like as many young people as possible to find out where geography can take them, so please help us spread the word to parents, teachers, and students!
