If you’re looking to explore the wonders of our planet and the varied faces of geography, our summer season offers something for everyone. Talks, tours, and exhibitions will be taking place in London and across the UK, and many events are livestreamed, which means there really is something for everyone.

Our Monday night lecture series, exclusively for members, has a vibrant line‑up planned for the summer. From tropical heat to polar ice, highlights include scientist and conservationist Professor Lee White sharing his insights on the preservation of the Congo Basin rainforests, and renowned glaciologist, Dr Heïdi Sevestre, speaking about the journey from Uganda’s tropical glaciers to the heart of Antarctica. Or come and hear a series of short talks from different perspectives on the climate crisis from across the Global South.

Open to everyone, join us for Geographical journeys: microlectures - an informal evening of short illustrated talks, packed with tales of adventure. Or why not come to the panel discussion on the geographical and historical threads linking Britain to Islamic worlds.

If photography and filmmaking inspire you, Earth Photo returns, celebrating outstanding photographers and filmmakers whose work captures the issues shaping our planet. Fifty exceptional entries will be displayed at the Society in July.

Also in July, Summit Photo brings together world‑leading photographers, filmmakers, scientists and policy makers to explore how photography and film can help change the world. Over three days, you can enjoy a programme of inspiring presentations, practical workshops, and thought‑provoking lectures.

We are delighted to present a new exhibition dedicated to Gertrude Bell FRGS, celebrating her remarkable life and enduring legacy. Visitors will have the opportunity to hear presentations from experts, view original archive materials, and explore newly digitised content from the project. Members can also join our lecture.

For anyone who wants to sit back and immerse themselves in visual storytelling, join us for Summer film night: conservation in action – an evening of powerful short films that shine a light on the work of geographical filmmakers and conservationists.

Our regional events this summer include a guided tour in Cumbria and a field visit to Berry Head National Nature Reserve, in Devon.

Don’t forget, you can make the most of everything on offer by becoming a member. Membership includes access to our Monday night lectures, both in‑person and online, along with discounted tickets for all other events.
