As part of our aim to increase young people’s awareness of the career pathways in geography, we are pleased to announce that we have relaunched our work experience directory and are asking individuals and companies to register their opportunities.
Did you know that by engaging with four or more employers throughout their education, students are 86% less likely to fall into the Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) category between the ages of 16 and 18? Work experience is pivotal to making this statistic a reality. Work experience is also a fantastic way for employers to build long-lasting relationships with local schools, colleges and universities. It’s an excellent recruitment opportunity, which allows companies to access talent while providing young people with the chance to develop their professional skills.
Who can register their opportunities?
- We are committed to collecting information about smaller organisations who offer work experience, expanding beyond just advertised schemes and placements.
- While we are particularly interested in the geospatial, all geographical work experience is welcomed.
- Work-based learning opportunities can be aimed at any education stage, from school students to postgraduates.
- Submissions for online, hybrid and in-person work experience across the UK are welcomed.
