Survey data shows high satisfaction with geography teaching

Recently released National Student Survey (NSS) data show high levels of satisfaction among geography university students for 2026. The annual independent survey gives final-year undergraduate students across the UK the opportunity to provide feedback on their course.

Geography students reported high levels of satisfaction with teaching on their courses, generally exceeding the all-subject average:

• 95.8% of geography students agreed that teaching staff were good at explaining things, compared with the all-subject average of 93.6%.
• Overall, 89.4% of geography students were satisfied with the teaching on their course, compared with 88.1% across all subjects.
• 92.0% of geography students were satisfied with academic support, compared with an all-subject average of 89.3%.

In many areas, geography student satisfaction has increased since 2025. For instance, in 2026, 88.0% of students said that staff made the subject engaging, compared with 85.5% in 2025.

Positive responses to the question 'How well does your course introduce subjects and skills in a way that builds on what you have already learned?' also increased, rising from 86.2% in 2025 to 91.0% in 2026.
