The Society’s Collections house over two million objects and our Collaborative Doctoral Awards programme provides an opportunity for PhD students to have direct and unlimited access to them, as well as receive training and supervision from members of our Collections and Research teams.

Since the programme began 20 years ago, it has supported an array of projects covering everything from lantern slides to hidden histories, Halley Bay to Greenland and much more.

On Monday, we were delighted to welcome the current students from the programme who came together for an induction day at the Society. This was a great opportunity for students to meet each other as well as staff, hear more about the programme and tour the Society building, including our Collections in the Foyle Reading Room.

It was lovely to have all the students here and we can’t wait to share more updates as their projects develop, and see the stories and insights they bring to light!
