COVID19 update
The Society building is currently closed and we are not able to offer work experience placements.
Applicants who were offered a confirmed place in 2020 will have first right of refusal for a place when the work experience scheme opens again in 2021. We will be in contact when this happens. All other applicants are asked to make a new application when the scheme opens again.
Placements for undergraduate geographers
We have a limited number of two week work experience placements for undergraduate geographers. These are for current students only. Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate gap year applicants or recent graduates. These office-based placements offer the opportunity to find out more about, and contribute to, the administrative work done within the Society.
Read blog posts by other students, to find out about their experiences of working with us:

How to apply
Placements are offered in fixed date ranges - you should only apply for a placement if you expect to be available for the indicated dates:
-
Summer 2020 (Block 1): No placements available
-
Summer 2020 (Block 2): No placements available
-
Christmas 2020: No placements available
Please state which period you are applying for (you may apply for more than one - make this clear in your application). All applications will be considered after each closing date and we will then let you know whether you have been successful. This may, though, take us a month or more. Young Geographers and Geography Ambassadors will be given priority.
Those who have completed a placement cannot return for further work experience.
For further details please contact rhed@rgs.org.
All placements are unpaid and based in London. We do not pay expenses or provide accommodation.

We are not able to provide individual guidance to students or parents regarding work experience ideas or placements elsewhere.
