The Environment Agency offers careers in a wide range of different disciplines, including many opportunities for geographers.
The Environment Agency is responsible for protecting and improving the environment in England. It is an executive non-departmental public body. It is responsible for: regulating major industry and waste, treating contaminated land, water quality and fishery resources, inland river, estuary and harbour navigations, conservation and ecology. It is also responsible for managing the risk of flooding from main rivers, reservoirs, estuaries and the sea.
Education stage
The Environment Agency offers:
- Work experience for over 16s.
- Internships and industry placements for undergraduates.
- Apprenticeships for school and university leavers.
- Graduate training schemes.
Location

Duration
Opportunities vary from one-year placements to a few weeks of work experience.
