Geography plays a critical role in infrastructure projects, influencing everything from site selection to environmental impact assessments. This work experience programme focused on geography and land referencing aims to help students see how their skills translate into real-world applications. Students will gain hands-on experience applying geographical concepts to infrastructure planning.

- Introduction to Land Referencing – Understanding the role of land referencers in infrastructure projects, compulsory purchase orders, and development consent orders.
- Geospatial Mapping and GIS Training – Learning how to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze land ownership, boundaries, and environmental constraints.
- Fieldwork and Site Visits – Understanding about project sites to assess land use, meet stakeholders, and collect data on land ownership.
- Legal and Planning Frameworks – Exploring planning regulations and environmental considerations that impact land referencing.
- Data Collection and Analysis – Working with land ownership databases, interpreting maps, and compiling reports for clients.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Understanding how land referencers liaise with landowners, local authorities, and developers.
- Project Work – Assisting with real-world projects, such as infrastructure developments, renewable energy sites, or transport planning.
