Race on the Agenda (ROTA) is one of Britain’s leading anti-racist change drivers. Working with communities impacted by systemic racism in the UK and those from Global Majority backgrounds, ROTA helps create the policies and practices to tackle inequality.
ROTA Community Research Partnerships
The ROTA Community Research Partnership (RCRP) is the new flagship project from ROTA. This project aims to explore the ways in which racial inequities affect Black and other racialised communities of London.
For 2026, the research themes are migration and the criminal justice system. These themes are defined loosely, and applicants are encouraged to consider ways to draw these themes together in their project proposals.
The RCRP research themes for 2025 were housing, health and wellbeing, and in 2024 the themes were employment and education.
Brick by Brick - housing project
ROTA launched Brick by Brick to confront racial injustice in housing. The programme brings forward the voices and experiences of Black and Global Majority communities who are disproportionately affected by housing inequality.
Education project
ROTA’s education programme focuses on the experiences of young people from Global Majority and Gipsy, Roma and Traveller communities in the education systems of the UK.
Their research addresses policy and practice which may adversely affect the educational opportunities and attainment of young people in Local Authority maintained schools, Academies, Free Schools, Alternative Provision, Pupil Referral Units and in Higher Education.
Volunteer programme
ROTA provides training in research methods, experience of running events, assisting with projects and learning about human rights, race equality and issues affecting people from BAME communities.
