John is a Head of Geography and Chair of the Geographical Association's Independent Schools' Special Interest Group. He has extensive experience with supporting students with applying to study geography at university, and has worked as a coach and mentor for teachers and apsiring RGS Fellows. 

About

I am an experienced academic leader, who has achieved significant success in both the leadership of geographical teaching and learning, producing outstanding outcomes for pupils. I have had a varied career as teacher, middle and senior leader in a wide variety of different independent school settings both in the UK and overseas.

Previous experience

I have mentored a number of aspiring school Heads of Department and have led coaching for individuals who aspired to achieve fellowship status of the RGS. 

Why I want to become a professional ambassador

I seek to promote both the academic study and professional pursuit of careers with geography at their core. I have supported over 200 pupils in their application for geography degrees, with many achieving places at Oxbridge universities. I can offer support on developing the school pathways to support students on their journeys from pre-school to university.
