Skinder Hundal MBE is a distinguished arts leader and cultural leader with an extensive background in international arts and cultural exchange.
He recently served as the Global Arts Director for the British Council (2020-2024) and is the Chair of the Cultural Leadership Board for the West Midlands Combined Authority. He served as CEO and Arts Director at New Art Exchange for twelve years.
In 2023-2024, Skinder was the Commissioner for the British Pavilion featuring Sir John Akomfrah in the La Biennale di Venezia, 2024 edition #60. In 2022, under his leadership, the British Pavilion won the Golden Lion with Sonia Boyce, and in 2023, the pavilion was awarded the Special Mention for Dancing Before the Moon.
Hundal is also a board trustee at Artist News (a-n) and Trigger Stuff, and volunteers as a mentor and advisor to a select handful of artists and organizations, for example, St Paul's Cathedral and The Mariwai Project.
As the Global Arts Director for the British Council, Hundal oversaw multiple art forms and major arts activities, which included cultural programmes for annual bilateral seasons such as UK/Vietnam 2023-24 and the Market Focus Cultural Programme at the London Book Fair, alongside new developments for COP26/27/28 and International and Digital Collaboration Open Calls.
In 2019, he was awarded an MBE for his contribution to visual arts.
