With global tensions shifting in Eastern Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and Africa, this panel will explore how geographic thinking helps understand and respond to evolving security threats, including hybrid warfare, migration pressures, and resource conflicts.

Meet our speakers

Dr Georgina Holmes is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Studies at the Open University. Georgina’s research focuses on gender and global security governance, peacekeeping and security sector reform; organisational change processes in international organisations and political communication.

Dr Tim Stevens is Reader in International Security in the Department of War Studies and head of the King's Cyber Security Research Group. His research looks at the intersection of technology, politics and global security practices, with specific interests in the politics and governance of cybersecurity.

Mikey Kay is a former British military officer and helicopter pilot who transitioned to a career as a correspondent and filmmaker. He is known for his work on national security, aviation, and social impact stories, and has reported for major news outlets like the BBC, CNN, and National Geographic.
