Join us to celebrate World Car Free Day with a guided walk from Kendal town centre along the valley of the river Kent to Sizergh Castle.
The river is a Special Area of Conservation and flows through a landscape steeped in natural and cultural history, with gunpowder mills, a Roman fort, imposing 14th-century castle and a spectacular gorge.
There will also be an opportunity to visit the new Soil: Life Beneath Our Feet exhibition at the end of the walk.
About the leader
The walk will be led by Dan Taylor, General Manager, South Cumbria and Lancashire, National Trust.
Event information
Guided walk along the river Kent from Kendal town centre along riverside footpaths, over stiles and through fields, some of which contain livestock. The visit culminates at the National Trust's Sizergh Castle estate which has a cafe and public toilets.
Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the activity and weather.
Dogs are not permitted, unless they are assistance dogs.
Under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please make sure you arrive on time for the event. There will be a health and safety briefing at the beginning of the event which will inform attendees of significant risks and any precautions they may need to take.
Regular bus services run alongside the Sizergh Castle estate for those wishing to return to Kendal at the end of the walk.
