Paul discusses his time spent living in the Montalto estate at Ballynahinch, Co Down. His illustrated talk reflects aspects of the 250-year-old history of the mansion house where five dynasties have lived and where a major battle was fought in 1798. But his main focus is on the changing seasons, the wildlife, in particular the birds, as well the champion trees and the woodland flora which he recorded in detail in his journal.
This is the local study of change in one place, and of how Montalto has become a magnificent showpiece garden that is once again as compelling as its past and worthy of the 18th century heritage from which it stems.
