Primary, secondary and trainee teachers are invited to the Society for a special day looking at how Nature Park activities, resources and concepts can be adopted on the school site.
We are due to be joined by speakers from the wider partnership, including Esri, The Natural History Museum and The Royal Horticultural Society, along with The Department for Education (DfE). There will be a geography focus to the day, but all teachers and trainees are welcome.
The full programme is still being finalised, but it should include:
Keynote speaker
- Dr Katie Hall, Schools Manager at Esri UK – explaining how Esri technology underpins the NENP programme and how you can make the best use of its digital mapping tools and activities.
Speakers
-
- Juanita Shepherd FRGS, Policy Lead, Sustainability Support Programme at DfE – giving us an insight into the work so far and opportunities for future engagement.
- Representatives from The Natural History Museum, including Georgia Prasad, Senior Learning Producer and The Royal Horticultural Society – sharing more about how geography elements compliment and fit into the wider programme, along with the key activities all schools should aim to undertake.
- Rachel Owen FRGS, Coordinator: Resources at The Royal Geographical Society – leading a fieldwork activity outside (weather permitting).
- Simon Pinfield FRGS, Manager: Resources, Projects and Partnerships at The Royal Geographical Society – giving an overview of the Society’s National Education Nature Park work.
The day will run from 10.00am to 3.30pm, with time for questions and discussion at the end. A simple sandwich lunch will be provided. Registration with tea and coffee will be from 09.30am.
