Join the South West committee for their annual forum and lunch. Graham Keene will describe his experience as the oldest man scaling Mount Everest.

About the lecture

Retirement is often spoken about as an ending. An end to work. An end to routine. An end to responsibility. Graham hadn’t planned for any of it. One day he was in full time employment; the next he wasn’t.

With no plan and no roadmap, he laced up his boots and set himself the challenge of walking the 630 mile South West Coast Path. That single decision sparked a chain of adventures that would take him across the globe – all the way to the summit of Mount Everest, where he became the oldest Briton ever to stand on top on the world.

In his talk, Graham takes the audience across continents and mountain ranges as he attempts to climb the highest peak on each one - all after stepping away from full-time work.

About the speaker

Graham Keene is the oldest man to date to scale Mount Everest. This has been recorded in the Guinness Book of Records but he doesn't know how long this record will last.
