This will be an evening celebrating the life of the late Plum Turner and the spirit of adventure and achievement she so embodied.
Chaired by Hannah MacInnes, broadcaster and podcast host, the first speaker will be Geordie Stewart, who scaled the Seven Summits at just 22. He will share his life lessons learned from mountaineering and endurance cycling: resilience, fear, purpose, and what extreme environments can teach us.
He will be joined by a second explorer: Lucy Shepherd, a recent recipient of the Scientific Exploration Society Pioneer for Purpose Award - who conducted the first east–west crossing of Guyana’s Kanuku Mountains, among other achievements.
Hannah will then lead a panel discussion to understand how the triumphs and challenges faced in the adventures taken by both our explorers compare.
The two charities benefiting from the evening are millimetres2mountains, a mental health charity enabling people to experience the thrill and beauty of the great outdoors. As Plum was a pilot the other is aerobility, affording disabled people the opportunity to pilot a light aircraft.
Please join us for an evening filled with enlightening stories and rich conversation in Plum’s memory.
