Dr Gerry Cleary will discuss the history, geography and future of the Pacific island of Taiwan and how its relationship with China and the rest of the world has changed over the last two decades.

About the speaker

Gerry Cleary is an urban historical geographer who lectured at St Mary’s College in Belfast and Dublin City University before becoming Director of the NI Open Learning Centre and subsequently International Officer for Queen’s University Belfast. He has extensive experience of travelling The Middle East, Africa and especially East Asia, including 20 years of visiting Taiwan.
