One of the most powerful and important aspects of animal geographies has been its methodological innovation and development. Working with animals throws up new challenges, both practical and ethical, that are often omitted from or ignored in geography that focusses on human populations. The recent more-than-human turn has invited new ways of thinking about research practice, and this workshop looks specifically at how animal geographers can pioneer and pave the way for innovation in methodology and engage with the public in doing so.

Responding to the challenges and opportunities within animal geographies, this workshop brings together scholars across career stages to undertake, discuss, and reflect on our methodological practice.

This workshop is hosted by the RGS-IBG Animal Geography Working Group. Please note that a reduced fee is available for those with low income, unwaged individuals, or students. Please contact animalgeographiesrgs@gmail.com for further information.
