Jim has probably fitted more crampons to boots than anyone else in the UK. He runs the Equipment Stores at Plas Y Brenin, a National Outdoor Centre based in North Wales. This involves managing PPE systems, offering advice and working in partnership with industry leaders in the mountaineering and outdoor world.
Previously an avid climber, mountaineer and part-time paddler, Jim has joined friends on various expeditions across the world, frequently just by saying ‘yes’ without knowing where he was heading to or what he was letting himself in for.
More recently, he has enjoyed going on journeys closer to home, often by bike, and still firmly believes there should only be one type of fun (the type that doesn’t involve suffering) but is frequently pushed firmly into adventures involving the second type.
