Konstantis Alexopoulos is a conservationist, a mountain climate scientist, and a National Geographic Explorer from Greece. His work focuses on the interface between climate, ecosystems, and society, and how the three interact in a changing world.

He has led and participated in numerous expeditions across the Greek mountains, studying topics ranging from the ecology of the protected Balkan chamois, to the presence and origin of microplastics in alpine catchments, to the shifting role of snow in regional water resources.

With a background in marine science from the University of Plymouth, Konstantis has also contributed extensively to fisheries research in the Aegean Sea, with a particular emphasis on integrating fishers’ empirical knowledge into environmental mapping for policy development.

In 2025, he co-founded the Hellenic Mountain Observatory, a Greek NGO dedicated to safeguarding fragile mountain ecosystems through research, outreach and education, and policy-level science communication.

He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Scott Polar Research Institute, at the University of Cambridge.
