Growing up on the edge of Dartmoor, Spike developed a taste for adventure early on. That spark turned into a lifelong pursuit — he has since led and participated in expeditions across the globe, from first ascents in Tajikistan and Siberia, to training young people in the High Arctic and Borneo’s jungles, and trekking through Bhutan and Afghanistan.

Spike took adventure to another latitude, literally, circumnavigating the globe along the 50°N line after winning the first RGS-IBG Land Rover Bursary with two friends. Never one to stay still, he later tackled the mighty River Ganges on a stand-up paddleboard, becoming the first person to descend it that way.

Spike is an International Mountain Leader and photographer. He is experienced in cycle touring, fell-running, and sailing, having crossed the Atlantic earlier this year by catamaran.
