Holly is a Scottish conservation biologist with a passion for tropical rainforests and understudied species.

Her work has been based primarily in the Peruvian Amazon, where she has spent over a decade as a mammal researcher and expedition guide. She also brings additional field experience from Paraguay, Zimbabwe, and Antarctica.

Holly is currently working on her DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford’s Wildlife Conservation Unit (WildCRU). Her research assesses medium and large mammal populations in and around areas of gold mining in the Peruvian Amazon using camera traps and eDNA. Holly is particularly interested in elusive and little-studied species such as the short-eared dog and giant armadillo. In 2024, she received an RGS Postgraduate Research Award to conduct an ecological study on these species.
