For attendees of the Explore Symposium seeking accommodation in or around South Kensington, a variety of options await to suit every preference and budget.
Each year, we welcome explorers and expeditioners from all over the UK and the world to our home in South Kensington. To assist attendees, we have compiled a list of nearby accommodation with easy access to the Society.
Hostels
SafeStay Kensington Holland Park (most affordable option)
Distance: 20-minute walk.
Prices: Bunk Bed from £17.50, Single Room from £60.
Description: offers affordable dormitory and private rooms with free Wi-Fi, a bar, and a garden. It provides a safe, comfortable, and sociable environment ideal for budget-conscious travelers.
RGS-only rooms available: £35 for two nights (8-15 people per room), towel and breakfast. Please contact Will Stein at go@rgs.org if you would like to be part of the RGS bunk-room booking. We have separate rooms booked for student delegates and other non-student delegates. Please specify which you are when you email.
Due to demand, we have added an additional 25 beds. Please reach out ASAP if we want to secure yourself a place.
Astor Hyde Park Hostel
Distance: 5-minute walk.
Prices (per night): bunk bed from £35, Single Room from £70.
Description: a vibrant hostel with free Wi-Fi, a communal kitchen, and a friendly atmosphere. Ideal for budget travelers and students.
The Montana Hotel
Distance: 16-minute walk.
Prices: Single Room from £85, Twin Room from £126.
Description: Victorian hotel offering cozy rooms with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. With an Indian restaurant onsite.
