Eleanor is an entomologist, expedition leader, lecturer and science communicator. Having completed her PhD on invertebrate personality she is fascinated by both invertebrate behaviour, as well as understanding how humans can work with and cultivate invertebrates in a sustainable and ethical way.

These interests have led her to work both in the UK and further afield in Peru, Australia, Honduras and French Guiana. In 2018 Eleanor was awarded the Scientific Exploration Society’s Inspirational Explorer award, leading an expedition to track the elusive titan beetle, and raising awareness about the international trade in invertebrates. Eleanor is also committed to science communication and has appeared on radio shows and podcasts including the Naked Scientists and Scientific American. She has also helped to co-found an entomophagy science festival group, and enjoys running bug-hunting and education events with community groups and schools.
