Iona is a member of the Plas Y Brenin instructional team, predominantly working in the mountaineering department. Here she trains and assesses mountain leaders, teaches rock climbing, scrambling and mountain skills. She is also a freelance instructor, enabling her to work with a very broad range of clients in the UK and further afield; and a volunteer for the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation.
During the winter she endeavours to spend as much time on ski mountaineering trips and expeditions as possible. More recently this has involved trips Northern Sweden, seeking adventure closer to home. The summer months bring trail running, trekking and climbing.
Covid has given Iona the opportunity to start bikepacking and studying for a Sport Science degree, opening the door for more learning and exploring, in addition to remembering what it feels like to be a complete beginner at the start of an unknown journey!
