James Sisti is a professional artist, wilderness guide, and nature-drawing instructor based in NYC. Since 2019, he's taught over 3,000 adult students both online and in the field, using an engaging educational approach that establishes a connection with nature through art. In 2022, James accompanied an international team of scientists and explorers on a high altitude micro plastics survey in the Swiss/French Alps. During this time, an unprecedented heat wave struck the region, which not only created logistical challenges where collecting ice samples were concerned, but simultaneously created an abundance of opportunities to capture valuable climate data. As such, James' field drawings and data records are being included in a Lunar Codex time capsule scheduled to launch to the moon in November of 2024. The purpose of the codex is to archive art on the surface of the Moon, preserving it for up to a million years. James is a member of the Explorer's Club and is an Eagle Scout Alumni of the Boy Scouts of America.
