
Tyriq Baker
Tyriq Baker is a musician, composer and multi-disciplinary creative based in Birmingham. Since graduating in Music at Huddersfield University a few years ago, he has been involved in the creative and music scene in Birmingham.
He has created music and collaborated with Birmingham Rep Theatre, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, B:Music, among others.
As well as this, he has collaborated with a number of Birmingham based artists and creatives, and has a passion for collaborating with creatives within Birmingham, his hometown, including being part of the Birmingham based music collective ‘Sample The Kids’.
He has been recently developing a musical as part of Birmingham Hippodrome’s Musical Writers’ Group.
As a composer, He has released music from a wide range of music genres. Under the pseudonym ‘bake_kidd_’, he has music inspired by electronic music genres, classical and jazz music, hip-hop, among other genres, many which involve collaborations with a number of musicians and creatives, including a three album project ‘A Night’s Dream’, based on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
As a performer, he regularly performs as a pianist and a saxophone player at a range of different music venues in and around Birmingham, performing alongside creatives within the city.
Recently he has been involved within the poetry scene in Birmingham, particularly events such as ‘Poet’s Palace’, where he performs alongside poet talents within the city.
His heart is for collaborating and creating with other creatives, and is especially proud to be able to do this within Birmingham, and be able to represent his city.
