Each year, our Research Groups give out awards and prizes to celebrate outstanding work by students and colleagues across the discipline. They also provide funding to support the community in undertaking research.

Carceral Geography Working Group (CGWG) Postgraduate Paper Prize
The CGWG Postgraduate Prize is awarded for the best research paper by current or former Master's and PhD students.
Geographical Information Science Research Group (GIScRG) Postgraduate Dissertation Award
The GIScRG Postgraduate Award recognises outstanding dissertations at Master's level.
Geographies of Leisure and Tourism (GLTRG) Research Group Postgraduate Dissertation Prize
The GLTRG Postgraduate Prize recognises outstanding dissertations submitted as part of a MA or MSc degree.
Population Geography Research Group (PopGRG) Bob Woods Prize
The PopGRG Bob Woods Prize is awarded for exceptional postgraduate student dissertations.
Rural Geography Research Group (RGRG) Masters Dissertation Prize
The RGRG Masters Prize is awarded for the best taught Masters dissertation.

Development Geographies Research Group (DevGRG) IDPR Review Paper Prize
The IDPR Review Prize is given to the best paper presented at a DevGRG sponsored session at the Society's Annual International Conference.
Economic Geography Research Group (EGRG) Annual PhD Prize Competition
The EGRG Prize Competition is awarded for the best PhD thesis.

The EnGRG Paper Prize recognises outstanding writing by postgraduate students.
Political Geography Research Group (PolGRG) Book Award
The PolGRG Book Award recognises books published in the two years previous to the call.
Transport Geography Research Group (TGRG) PGR Prize for Best Postgraduate Presentation
The TGRG PGR Prize is open to postgraduate students who present at TGRG-sponsored sessions at the RGS-IBG Annual Conference.
