Geographical Information Science Research Group (GIScRG) Postgraduate Dissertation Award

The Geographical Information Science Research Group (GIScRG)'s Postgraduate Dissertation Award (Master Level) recognises outstanding postgraduate research within the field of Geographic Information Science.

We invite students who have recently completed their dissertations to participate.

Eligibility criteria

  • The dissertation must be at the Master’s level.
  • The dissertation must not have been submitted for the same award competition.
  • The dissertation should address on issues relating to GIS/Sc, spatial analysis, spatial modelling or geocomputation.
  • Dissertations must be of ‘Distinction’ standard.
  • We will accept a maximum of two applications per department from higher education institutions in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Submission requirements:

  • A PDF copy of the dissertation.
  • An endorsement letter/email from the Director of Postgraduate Programme or nominated representative of the student’s institution.
  • Applications must be submitted by the student’s institution, via the Director of Postgraduate Programme or a nominated representative, and with the student’s knowledge.

Awards

The prize for the best dissertation is £100 plus an annual Associate Fellowship.

The runner up will receive £50 plus an annual Associate Fellowship.

The winners and other excellent submissions will be invited to present in the next Annual International Conference.
