The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies can offer a range of in person and online sessions for GCSE and A-Level Students. The department can offer a wide range of topics to fit your interests, these include:

Virtual Fieldwork

Two ArcGIS StoryMap learning resources aimed at post-16 (but can also be used for pre-16 students). Each StoryMap includes teacher guidance notes on how these can be related to different geography curriculums and awarding bodies. 

1.  Virtual Field Trip to Strand-Aldwych that uses the recent pedestrianisation project of The Strand, London to explore the social and environmental entanglements of the area using a range of data including quantitative, textual, historical and audio-visual (including both day and night time walkthrough of the area). 

2.   Who tells Stories? Migrant Business Women in Bloomsbury, 1911.  This recent OU research project brings census data of marginalised communities to life with a virtual walking tour and song.

Teacher CPD and resources

Open Learn offers a range of learning materials, including geography, environmental studies and across the OU range of modules.  It also includes study and work skills resources such as writing and time management articles, short courses.  Some courses also offer digital badges and certificates that can be used to evidence learning.
