The University of Northampton offers the following outreach and engagement opportunities for schools, students and teachers:

Visits to and from schools

Taster days and campus visits

The University of Northampton offers taster days for students in Years 11, 12 and 13. These half-day or full-day events are tailored to the needs of the school/college, but usually involve a classroom or fieldwork activity, a campus tour, an information session about studying at university, and opportunities to talk with student ambassadors.

Guest lectures

The University of Northampton can deliver online talks about careers in Geography. Contact them for information about other subject-related sessions that they can deliver online or in school/college.

Talks about university

The University of Northampton’s Schools and Colleges Liaison Team offer both in school and virtual sessions designed to prepare students for the university application process and student life:

  • Talks and sessions: They provide a number of interactive talks that can be delivered in your school or college, or virtually, throughout the year.
  • Online resources: A number of their interactive sessions are now available as pre-recorded, online sessions, with supporting materials.
  • Personal Statement Feedback: Getting the personal statement right is important for a university application. It not only supports your university application but is a reflection of yourself. For students who have completed their Personal Statement session and have their first draft ready to go they will give you some tips and feedback on where to improve. They can only give feedback on courses they offer to ensure they give relevant advice.
  • Register your interest: Complete our easy online enquiry form to register your interest for future events and activities.

Widening access

The University of Northampton’s Schools Engagement team is determined to develop and offer a range of opportunities for their partner schools across the county of Northamptonshire, for children and students from the age of 5 to 18 and adult learners. Schools are identified to work with the Schools Engagement team based on postcode area, high areas of IMD Q1 & 2 and areas of disadvantage in Northamptonshire.

Part of Equality and Access, the Schools Engagement team collaborates with internal and external partners to help schools raise aspirations, boost attainment, and inspire young people to explore various future options.

They aim to encourage children and young people to consider the benefits of a post-18 education through university or an alternative provider.
