About Bob Lang

As a full-time Geography Teacher at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls in Birmingham, Bob has over 20 years of experience in delivering engaging and effective geography lessons, outreach activities, and teacher training. He is passionate about supporting geography teachers and educators from different backgrounds and levels of expertise and collaborating with various organisations and institutions involved in applying GIS and geospatial technologies in secondary and high school education. Bob is a Fellow of the Society, a Chartered Geographer and a recipient of the RGS-IBG Award for Excellence in Teaching Geography at Secondary Level in 2011. Bob has run the Birmingham Geographical Association (GA) Branch for 20 years and has been a member of the GA’s ICT Special Interest Group for many years.

Bob is a GIS specialist and a geography educator. He has developed and delivered a range of CPD sessions on the use of GIS to teachers, trainee teachers, and educators around the UK and beyond. He has also been invited to participate in prestigious programs and projects, such as the Singapore's Ministry of Education’s Outstanding Educator in Residence scheme. His mission is to promote the integration of online GIS into geography curricula, and to inspire students to explore, question, and analyze the world around them.

What can Bob offer to schools?

Bob is happy to provide support on using and integrating GIS and geospatial tools into the curriculum. This could be working with a department on a one-to-one basis, running a twilight for a group of teachers for example ECT’s, to running a MAT wide training day. The range of GIS tools that Bob provides support on includes online GIS viewers to more advanced GIS Software including ESRI’s ArcGIS Online. 

Format of sessions

Bob is happy to run sessions online or in-person

Bob is willing to travel to regions outside the Midlands (where he is based) but travel expenses would need to be covered.

Pricing

Bob is happy to offer sessions on a voluntary basis but cover costs for his school might be requested if needed.

All travel expenses would need to be covered for in-person sessions.
