Platinum print folios

The Royal Geographical Society, in partnership with Salto Ulbeek, is pleased to present two folios of platinum-palladium prints drawn from the Society’s extraordinary photographic collections.

The first folio entitled George Mallory comprises nine prints – including three magnificent panoramas – selected from George Mallory’s photographs of the 1921 Mount Everest Expedition. The second entitled Frank Hurley brings together twelve of Frank Hurley’s most celebrated images from Sir Ernest Shackleton’s 1914–1917 Endurance expedition.

These limited-edition prints are printed using the platinum-palladium process – renowned for its exceptional tonal richness, subtlety, and archival permanence – and each image reveals a depth of detail and material presence seldom encountered in conventional reproductions.

Presented in an engraved anodised aluminium case and accompanied by a scholarly essay, each folio has been conceived as a portable, self-contained exhibition for private collections, institutions, and museums alike.

Only five editions of each folio will be produced in 2027, with the complete edition permanently limited to 18.
