Digital Geographies Research Group conference session sponsorship
The Digital Geographies Research Group (DGRG) invites expressions of interest for sponsored sessions at the Annual International Conference 2026.
The 2026 conference will be chaired by Professor Peter Hopkins (Newcastle University, UK). This year’s conference theme is Geographies of inequalities: towards just places.
The conference will take place in London at the Royal Geographical Society and Imperial College London, and online, from Tuesday 1 September to Friday 4 September 2026.
DGRG invites proposals for sessions that engage with any theoretical or empirical interests in relation to ‘the digital’, and particularly those aligned with the conference theme.
We are also keen to sponsor sessions that support the work of early career scholars.
We encourage you from the outset to think about not just the theme and speakers, but also the kinds of activities and discussions you want to hold and opportunities to use pre (and post)-uploaded content.
Sessions may take a variety of formats, including conventional paper sessions, panels, or more innovative or creative approaches. Please be aware of limits on contributions.
How to apply
Please email your full session details to the DGRG Events Coordinator, Adam Michael Packer, by 16 February 2026, via email: a.m.packer@bham.ac.uk. Informal discussions about proposals are welcome prior to full submission.
Please include in your session proposal the following details:
- Session title
- Names, affiliations, and email addresses of the session convenors
- Session abstract (max. 300 words, excl. references), including up to five keywords
- Indication (if known) of preferred session format (in-person, hybrid, or online) and session type (paper, panel, workshop, etc.). Sessions will be limited to two timeslots in the programme. A timeslot is 1 hour 40 minutes. Please indicate the number of session timeslots being sought. View our suggested session formats.
- Whether you are applying for sponsorship with any other research group.
DGRG can sponsor a maximum of 12 session slots. Applications will be reviewed after the deadline (not on a first come, first served basis). Proposals will be reviewed by a sub-panel of the DGRG committee.
Applicants will be notified on or before 23 February 2026, with successful organisers required to submit full session details (with all proposed papers and presenters where relevant) to the Society via the Ex-Ordo platform by Friday 6 March 2026.
Deadline: 16 February 2026.
