The three-day RGS-IBG Annual International Conference attracts over 2000 geographers from around the world. This year, the conference is taking place online, with in-person elements if it is possible to do so.
Please note that all dates are currently provisional and may be subject to change
Conference organisers will formally confirm acceptance of sessions, papers and posters for the conference. Confirmation of conference format will follow afterwards (see below). Delegates may request letters of acceptance to make funding applications, and letters of invitation for visa applications (if in-person elements are possible). Conference organisers will begin timetabling the programme.
Session organisers should convey planning information to participants in their sessions, for example length of time they can speak for, and any special arrangements. Session organisers should also supply any special requirements to conference organisers.
Conference organisers will separately confirm acceptance of papers for 'open' sessions and organise papers into themed sessions within the conference programme.
Early May 2021
The conference organisers will make a decision by early May 2021 as to whether we can proceed with in-person elements for the conference. Delegates will be given the opportunity to convert their in-person contributions to an online format if that becomes necessary. Given current uncertainty, we strongly recommend that delegates do NOT make any non-refundable bookings until we have made an announcement on this.
Early May 2021
Online registration opens. Deadline for reduced rate ('early-bird') registrations is Friday 18 June 2021, by which date all those listed on the conference programme (session organisers, chairs, presenting authors and discussants) must be registered.
Late May 2021
Provisional conference programme shared. Session organisers and presenting authors are invited to make corrections and request final changes to titles and abstracts - requests should be emailed to email@example.com by Friday 25 June 2021.
Friday 18 June 2021
All those listed on the conference programme (for example; chairs, panellists, discussants, presenting authors and so on) should be registered by this date.
Monday 5 July 2021
Final conference programme published on the conference website. Session organisers, authors and presenters may make later changes on the website. If applicable, room allocations will be made and announced in late July 2021.
Changes may be made to the online programme at any time up to and during the conference.
The conference will take place from Tuesday 31 August to Friday 3 September 2021.
